Dr. Livia Rasche

Senior Researcher

Livia Rasche is a senior researcher at the department of Land Use Economics at the University of Hohenheim, where she works in the project “Biodiversity in Agriculture – Data and models to support pesticide reduction”. Her main research interests are the modelling and assessment of different agricultural systems (under climate change), and food system and land use analysis. She also frequently collaborates with economists on integrated assessments of land use and land use change.

Livia Rasche previously worked at Universität Hamburg in the Research Unit Sustainability and Global Change, where she was responsible for the ecological modelling subgroup. In this time, she developed a pest-pesticide and an insect population dynamics submodel for the EPIC crop model. She also spend time as a visiting scientist at Texas A&M and Ohio State University.

Livia Rasche has supervised several Ph.D and master students and served as an instructor in recurring course "Modelling impacts, adaptation, and mitigation of climate change and climate variability on argriculture". She also contribed to the lecture series “Coupled climate economic models” and “Climate economics”. Her paper "A pest submodel for use in integrated assessment models.", which she published together with her colleague RAJ Taylor in 2017, received the ASABE superior paper award

Livia Rasche received her Ph.D in natural sciences from ETH Zurich, Switzerland, and her diploma in Geo-Ecology from the University of Tübingen, Germany.
